Mr. O’Leary has practiced law for 39 years and is currently a partner in the law firm of Davis Wright Tremain. He is a member of the environmental law and natural resources section and litigation section of that firm with a major emphasis on civil litigation in the environmental and natural resources field. Mr. O’Leary was previously a partner in the law firm of Pozzi, Wilson, Atchison, O’Leary and Conboy. His practice emphasized personal injury trials. Mr. O’Leary has also provided alternative dispute resolution services throughout the Pacific Northwest in the fields of torts, real estate, environmental and natural resources issues, labor and employment law for the past 12 years. During that period of time approximately 500 mediations have been conducted.
Mr. O’Leary is a member of the American College of Trial Lawyers and the American Board of Trial Advocates, Oregon Chapter, and in 1987 he was its President. He was a member of the Oregon State Bar Board of Governors for 3 years and was Vice-President of the Oregon State Bar in 1980. Mr. O’Leary was also a member of the Oregon Judicial Fitness Commission for 4 years and was Vice-Chair in 1984.
Mr. O’Leary was listed in Best Lawyers in America from 1987-2006. He received the Award of Merit from the Oregon State Bar in 1980 and received the Public Justice Award for the Oregon Trial Lawyers Association in 1992. In 1992 he was also honored as a Distinguished Trial Lawyer by the Oregon Trial Lawyers Association. He served as the President of the Oregon Law Foundation from 1991 to 1994. He was awarded the Distinguished Trial Lawyer award by the American Board of Trial Advocates in 1997 and he was awarded the Professionalism Award by Multnomah County Bar Association in 2001. Mr. O’Leary was named as one of “America’s Leading Business Lawyers” by Chambers USA, 2003-2006.
